Pop in Logic 9.1.1

While I'm absolutely LOVING the sound of CP2V, if I have it inserted on an audio track in Logic, I get a "pop" on that track just before the first region plays. Buffer issue?

Thanks!

Re: Pop in Logic 9.1.1

CP2V doesn't do any buffering, is this repeatable in other sessions with different audio tracks?
btw don, can you put your system specs in your signature, or just list them - and version of CP2V.

Re: Pop in Logic 9.1.1

Hi Gary,

I'm using v1.3 of the compressor. I have noticed this issue in multiple Logic projects and always on tracks that have the CP2V instantiated. If I disable the other plugs on the track and leave only the comp enabled, I still get the pop.

If I draw volume automation on the track that starts at ∞ and ramps to the proper starting volume while over the first region, the pop doesn't occur.

Thanks!

Re: Pop in Logic 9.1.1

It appears to be due to the way Logic switches off plug-ins in areas where there is no audio.

This can cause clicks/pops in some plugins as reported here by several users over on gearslutz.com.

Plug-ins with oversampling etc are likely to be more effected, as CP1A doesn't produce a pop.

One user suggests automating a mute, I know you have been automating volume.
The other way maybe to add some silent audio to the beginning of the audio file, or copy/paste in the time line.

I'll look into ways of addressing this internally in CP2V for the next update.

Re: Pop in Logic 9.1.1

Great - thanks for looking into this. I'll stay with my workarounds for now.

Cheers,

Re: Pop in Logic 9.1.1

This has been addressed in the new v1.4 update.

Re: Pop in Logic 9.1.1

Hi Gary,

Dragging this topic back up as I'm experiencing the "pop" issue in Logic 9.1.3 when trying to use SATV as the first insert on most of my channels. If I replace all those instances with something like URS's Saturation, the pop goes away, but so does all the lovely tone I get from SATV.

Will 64-bit fix this, or is it unrelated to that entirely?

Thanks!

Re: Pop in Logic 9.1.1

Will look into this, I suspect it's similar to CP2V's pre 1.4 problem.
